Comments: I have visited this sight many times and have yet to sign in. I find this may be an appropriate day since it would have been our daughters first halloween. We lost our precious little girl on July 10, 1997 to SIDS while she was at daycare. She was born on April 19, 1997 (also her daddy's birthday). We miss her so much. Our hearts feel empty. Lauren was the light of our lives. It is hard to imagine how we have survived the past 3 months without her. We would love to hear from anyone. Our daycare provider is also our next door neighbor. She is also having a difficult time. Any words of advice or just a friendly note to her at this address would also be appreciated. God bless all of you.

Comments: Thank you for providing the information for me to help a friend of mine whose first child is on a SIDS monitor. I didn't know hardly anything about SIDS except for the sudden death, but I want to know the facts and help my friend through get through this. Her daughter is only a week old, but she is already doing things a one month old can do, like turn her head and roll on her side. I guess we're all more than a little frightened that the doctors feel her low heart rate warrants a constant monitor, but it's only for the good of the baby. I hope this turn out to be one of those times when everything turns out just fine fro both the parents and the child.

Comments: Hi Everyone, I'm an RN, a writer and Gregory's grandmother. Greggy died in 1984 and my daughter and I have spent the last ten years writing a book and articles (to Nursing Journals etc.) to try to explain the Impact of a baby's death on a Family. Now with all the sensational media coverage over a book that causes harm, our book "Then An Angel Came..." will give us the opportunity to show what really goes on when a baby dies. I've read most of the first person stories, and find them eloquent and excruciatingly painful as well as beautiful. In many I see the same kind of pain and love we felt for Greggy. Hopefully, we can use this opportunity to tell the general public that we are loving, caring families who valued our children and in that way put a face on the families of SIDS babies so they don't see us as different from them any longer. Here's hoping! Carol Gino RN, MA, Gram...

We miss her dearly and we look forward to seeing her again in heaven with Jesus Christ. I've found it very helpful to simply lean on Jesus in my time of crises and I Jesus has helped me to deal with the loss of your child. We don't always understand God's plan but "all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose" Rom 8:28 My little child automatically went to heaven and now all I have to do is make sure that I and plenty others get there. Comments: My daughter, Veronica, died in June of 1990. She was a perfectlly healthy, exclusivelly breastfed baby. She was two months and eight days old. Because we practiced co-sleeping, I had a lot of guilt feelings for a long time....I thought maybe I had rolled over her in the night....I also felt guilty that I had not realized somehow when she died. She died around 1-2 in the morning, and I didn't find her till after 9am....:( We will never forget our littlest angel, even tho we have had two more children since then. Although they have helped to heal our hearts, they will never take her place. Veronica would have been seven now, and in the second grade. I no longer feel the overwhelming need to find out "why" this happened....I just hope a reason/cure is found so no other parent has to go thru this nightmare..... Catherine Lewis

Presently I am putting together a video to play in the Oasis Room of babies who have passed away due to SIDS. We have compossed a cassette tape of a song a very dear friend of mine wrote and sang at our son's memoial service, it also will include atleast 1 or hopefully 2 more songs and a poem We will be selling these tapes at the confrence and trying to get them into retail Christian Bookstores, etc. The profits of the sale of this tape will be going to various SIDS organizations to research the cause and potential cure of SIDS. What I am trying to do is gather as many pictures of SIDS babies as I can to include in this video. If you are interested, please e-mail me or call me directly at (800)556-9744. Past the planets and the stars, leave this lonely world of ours, escape the sorrow and the pain and fly again. Fly, fly, precious one, your endless journey has begun, take your gentle happines, far to beautiful for this. Cross over to the other shore, there is peace forevermore, but hold this memory bittersweet, until we meet. Fly, fly, do not fear. Don't waste a breath, don't shed a tear, Your heart is pure, your soul is free, be on your way, don't wait for me. Above the universe you'll climb, on beyond the hands of time, the moon will rise, the sun will set, but I won't forget. Fly, fly little wing, fly where only angels sing, fly away the time is right, go now, find the light...

Comments: On behalf of my son Daniel Scott the following are the words to a song I found just days before my son's second birthday. The song is "A Baby's Prayer", by Kathy Troccoli I have found the song and its words very comforting. My son Daniel, 19 months passed away this March of SIDS. When I found the song, it was just as if he was singing the words just for me. I know he would've wanted me to share this with anyone who misses their son or daughter. May it bring you and your family comfort. - God Bless. I can hear her talking with a friend, I think it's all about me. And although she can't have a baby now, my mommy doesn't see. That I know her voice, I hear her breath, her blood it flows through my heart. God you know my greates wish is that, we never be apart. But if I should die before I wake, I pray her soul you'll keep. Forgive her Lord she doesn't know, that you gave life to me. Do I really have to say Goodbye, I don't want this time to be through. Oh please tell her Lord I Love her so, and that you Love her too. But if I should die before I wake, I pray her soul you'll keep. Foregive her Lord she doesn't know, that you gave life to me. On the days when she will think of me, please comfort her with the truth. That the angels hold me safe and sound and that I'm living with you. I'm in heaven with you. - Kathy Troccoli, "A Baby's Prayer"

An autopsy was performed by the State on Christophers death on his death and SID was the diagnosis. The State is now trying to relate Christophers death to state files of distant family members. What can we do--how many times must we be submitted to the States fantasies?? We have six (6) children in good health. Two were born after Christophers death. HELP HELP HELP/

As a parent of a seven month old girl, I just cannot imagine the pain and heartache you all must have felt. I know how much my he heart is bleeding for my friend, her husband and family. Everyday I ask myself why? Why does this happen to anyone alone wonderful people and to beautiful, healthy babies? Will we ever find the answers? God Bless all of you, may you find comfort in knowing others share your pain.

Comments: I visit this site often and share my grief with all who have lost a baby. My husband & I lost our son, Sean on February 7, 1997. He was 3 months and 7 days old when he died. We lost him suddenly and without warning while he was at the baby-sitters. As each month passed, the pain never left but slowly became bearable. But, this month I have been dreading. Sean was born on October 31, 1996, Halloween day. As the days near to his birthday, I start to remember every detail when he was born. I look back at the pictures and can't believe my Sean is gone. My beautiful baby is not here to celebrate his 1 year birthday and I feel cheated in that God denied Sean this right. I don't blame God or anything outward for my Sean's death, it's just I can't believe a healthy baby here one day and gone the next. I miss my dear child. If anyone would like to share on how they handled the first bithday, please write. Thank you for this wonderful gathering place where broken hearts can mend. Aloha, Joni

Comments: My husband, Troy and I lost our first son to Sids 11 months ago. It would have been his first birthday tomorrow (14-10-96). My heart goes out to all of the other parents of SIDS babies as we can understand the pain, anger and deep hurt that is so evident even a year or ten years after the fact. The hardest bit for us has been the empty moments that should have been filled with excitement, joy and love. Like his first birthday, mothers day, fathers day, christmas and even things like "picnic in the park events" in the local community. We are expecting our second childs arrival on the anniversary of Kristians death. This pregnency has helped us alot but I still wish I had my beautiful son with me.

Comments: Hello. My son, Schaefer, died of SIDS on Oct. 11th, 1996. Today, I am wading through the first anniversary of that date. I just wanted to write, and tell you all what a wonderful thing this site is. I have used it on several occasions, and under different screen names, both to help me express my grief, through the first person page, and as a resource for information and support. Our babies died from a condition that we know all too little about, and the general public has barely even heard of. Sites such as this, and the mailing lists that exist are essential tools in the battle against SIDS. By increasing public awareness, and only by that means, will we be able to gather the broad support needed to wage an effective war against what can truly be called one of the most henious diseases known to man. Charles Dickens said it best when he wrote "It is no small thing that those so fresh from God love us." God bless you all, and watch over all of us. I love you Baby Schae!

She is so missed by her mommy, daddy and her little brother BJ. She was a beautiful healthy baby girl, my daughters wish come true, a baby girl, perfectly created. We lost our beautiful daughter, Kaylee Shae Frye, to SIDS on August 9, 1997. Kaylee was a beautiful and happy baby. She hardly very cried. It seems that so many SIDS babies that we have heard about were also very good natured, not colicky, good sleepers, etc. I often wonder if this is the case with many SIDS babies and if they have less fight built in them to breathe when the shut down. My husband and I would love to hear from anyone who has lost a baby or has an answer to my question. (fryest@aol.com) God bless all of you. Our prayers are with you.

I know - but I hope to receive more and more exact informations about - the "trial" which "obliged" in the '80 years to put the infants to sleep face down. A demential trial!!! Here in Italy I saw still now often babies sleeping on their stomach, and I heard that many obstetrics and pediatrics prescribe to do so (!!!) instead of the growing statistics which show a very larger amount of deaths in this position. What to do? How share these data worldwide in a more powerful way? Thanks dr. Anna Abbiate Fubini

Comments: I am a former Child Protective Services caseworker (7 years). I recently resigned but before I left I had been working with a family who lost a child to SIDS and had another child who had to be hospitalized due to RSV. Child Protective Services stepped in and took custody. Mother was evaluated and Munchausen by Proxy was supposed to be explored. I worked with this family for four months, at least 15 to 20 hours per week in their home. I also have a masters degree in the social services field and am three classes away from my MSW. I do not believe this family had anything to do with the death of their son, who died as a result of SIDS. I was very dissappointed with the Child Protective Services system and felt this family was being victimized and put through more tragedy. I testified in court for the family and the judge basically told me I did not know what I was talking about. I immediately resigned my position and decided to finish my MSW and do SIDS research. I am very angry that this family has been victimized by a system that is supposed to help children and families. I am presently trying to put together a support group for minority families who have a lost a child to SIDS in the Galveston County, Texas area. I am affiliated with the University of Houston, Graduate School of Social Work.

Comments: My husband and I lost our daughter Lauren Elizabeth to SIDS on August 4, 1997. She was 4 days shy of her 4 month birthday (she was born April 8, 1997). She was happy, healthy, full of smiles and funny noises, and a very beautiful little girl. She had just started day care (she died on a Monday afternoon, only the third day of day care - she was only going 2 days a week - the other 3 days her grandma was watching her at home). Next week will mark her 6 month birthday and the 2 month anniversary of her death. I go to work every day and work very hard; I read lots of books, either about SIDS, grief, or something completely different - just to keep my mind off of how quiet the house is (despite the fact that we have two big dogs to keep us company - how wonderful these two creatures have been to us during this time of grief). We miss her so very much. She is our little angel; our heart and soul.

Comments: I'm trying to reach some friends that I have lost contact with over the years. I have had 3 miscarriages and had several pen pals, one in Canada - Paula?? - one in Wisconsin that I would dearly love to have contact with again. If you can help, I would deeply appreciate it. My most recent miscarriage was 3 mo ago and I am still having problems dealing with it. Thank you.
