Comments: I recently suffered the loss of my son Franklin,
four days after his birth. I was diagnosed early on in my pregnancy with an Incompetent
Cervix. Whereas a normal cervix is usually around 4 cm long, mine was only 3cm. Had it
been 2 cm I would have automatically had a procedure done called a "cerclage",
which is a suturing of the cervix to keep it shut. I had 4 ultrasounds and both my OB/GYN
and my Perinatologist determined that this was not necessary for me. However at 29 weeks I
went into labor and within 2 hrs I was fully dialated and Franklin was delivered weighing
in at 2lbs 10 oz. I understand that it is in the last trimester where antibodies and
immunities are passed on to the fetus, and when on the fourth day he contracted an
infection in the Neo Natal Ward he had no combatants for it and died shortly thereafter.
This is a hard thing to deal with. I would appreciate anyones comments on how to deal with
this positively. |

passed away of SIDS on April 11, 1994. After we got on the Internet I started looking for
anything I could find concerning SIDS and found your site. I visit the site alot because I
am asked questions about this from people we meet when we do our benefit for SIDS. This
past May we raised $2,180 and sent it to the SIDS Chaper in Dayton, Ohio. The site is very
informative and I need to learn as much as I can about SIDS. Hopefully one day they will

who understand the pain of losing a child. We lost our daughter Lauren Paige to SIDS on
November 26,1997. She would havebeen a year old on June 28th. It will be very hard, but we
must go on for Lauren's sister, Destiny, who is 2, and the joy of our lives. We still
don't understand this terrible killler that took our baby from us. That's part of what
hurts so much. But we can only hope that someday there will be some kind of cure or
precaution that you can take to assure you that this won't happen to any more precious

information regarding a newsreport I heard tonight. We lost our twin son Ryan to SIDS six
months ago. Hope you can respond to our e-mail soon. Anyone who has lost a multiple to a
SIDS related death can also contact an organization called CLIMB they deal with the
unusual situation of lossing one child and caring for one or more at the same time. Trying
to balance Grief at the loss and Joy at the surviving child or children is difficult at
time. I know that Climb has helped me just as my local SIDS Support Group has helped.

1992 (two months after I got my paramedic liscence). I know how this affected me and
cannot even imagine how it affects parents, siblings, family, etc. My heart goes out to
