Is it safe to let babies sleep in swings and/or bouncy chairs?

I am a mother of a 2 1/2 month old and a teacher in the baby room of a daycare. I have looked through many articles on the SIDS-Network site but have not found what I am looking for. We have been debating whether it is safe to let babies sleep in swings and/or bouncy chairs. I talked to my doctor about it and he said as long as they are on their backs and they aren't slumped over at all, he thought it was safe. We have some babies who have never slept in a crib and don't get any sleep all day because they wake up as soon as they are placed in a crib. I would like to know if letting them sleep in a swing or a bouncy chair is safe. Thank you for your time.

I am not aware of specific studies, but I agree with the pediatrician. It should be safe.
