These Tears

by Mary K. Beno (4/22/98)

The following poem just came to me last night when I realized that my son Christopher (11/23/97 - 03/23/98) was in the safest place he could be. The place we all want to get to. It is amazing to me that the death of my son has taken all the fear of death from me. I know there is nothing more I can do for Christopher and I need to be here on earth for his big brother Brendan. I cry but these tears are not for Christopher but for my husband Mark my son Brendan and myself. As much as I know Christopher is in the best place ever, I would still trade everything I own to have him back. Unfortunately GOD doesn't make deals.

THESE TEARS

These tears I cry
are not for you, but I

The FIRSTS
that will never be

The DREAMS
that won't become reality

The ARMS
that can't hold you again

The LOVE
that will never end

I know you are safe
from this worlds sorrows

But I have to face
all the empty tomorrows

These tears I cry
are not for you, but I
