A Poem For Jessica's Birthday

A belated thanks to all of you who wrote to encourage us on Jessica's first birthday. One of our best friends sent us this poem, which I thought you might like. He met Jessie when she was just minutes old.

Hope you like this poem as much as we did.

Someone once had told me
That eyes do mirror the soul
To find someone with answers
Soon became my goal

Find the eyes that tell the tale
Of a soul inside that's gleaming
To show me what I did not know
To show me my true meaning

Most I'd found were clear and kind
Others cold and empty
In all my search my only gain
Was sympathy and pity

Then I looked in your eyes
I found yours searching mine
Not caring what I had to bring
Just loving what's inside

In all my days of searching
I would not have guessed
The thing that I was looking for
I myself possessed

It took a new born baby
No prejudice or sins
To find in me that special part
The part where love begins

Today will mark the first year
The day my quest took form
The eyes I had been looking for
The eyes of an angel born
