Another Life Given Another Life Gone

Hello. My name is Kacie. I am 27 years old. My daughter brought this essay home from school and it broke my heart. I will write her exact wording. The title is.....

-------------------------------------------------------

ANOTHER LIFE GIVEN ANOTHER LIFE GONE

I was excited my baby sister Karlee was born. We’re 10 years apart. When I became 20 she would be 10. She was going to stay with me. We were going to do nails stay up late and watch movies.

She was born at Providence Hospital like the kids in my family. I was the only kid born at Kaiser Permente. Her birthday is on 11-11-01 at 10:00.I was going to go but it was too late. We "my sister brother and I" were getting dressed and my mom said "you can see her tomorrow she’ll still be here." I was disappointed I didn’t get to go but my mom was right. She was still there. She was one of the cutest babies I’ve ever seen. I was mad. My mom didn’t get to come home that night.

When Karlee was born her umbilical cord was wrapped around her neck twice so she was all red and bruised everywhere. She didn’t cry when she was born, kind of like my sister, brother and I when we were born. We didn’t cry. Then an accident happened when we were all in bed. She was sleeping. It was her last time to live. It was a tragedy two days after Christmas she died!

She was only 6 weeks old. My dad was leaving for work and he went to kiss her good-bye. She wasn’t breathing so he called an ambulance. She was dead. She died of S.I.D.S. Sudden infant death syndrome. I miss her a lot

THE END, KAYLA

-------------------------------------------------------

I completely shut down after my baby girl, Karlee Jane Michelle Kiger died on the night of Dec. 26th 2001 and until my daughter brought this to me something like 5 or 6 mo later
