I Love You, My Little Miss
by Deborah Mihalko
Written in memory of Margaret Joy Mihalko,
I love you, My Little Miss
"I love you, My Little Miss," my heart gently whispers as the golden sun silently slips behind the branches of the trees ablaze with the colors of a late New England Autumn. Torn from my arms ten years ago I carry you with me.
As the rich reds of the sunset fill the sky, for a few fleeting moments, your scent fills the air and memories of you wrap gently round me, warming my soul and filling my arms. We are together, Mother and daughter, as it was meant to be.
My journey has brought me back to whence I came, back to the love and joy, which gave you life. That pure unconditional love that provided the strength to face the darkness.
As night falls I am not alone. Lights shine in the distance, the light of love, the light of joy, the light of hope. Lights whose beams guide and protect me as we move toward the answers so many hearts seek. I reach for the light and brush your soft cheek. "I love you, My Little Miss." In my heart I hold you close.
