To my Mommy's Class

This is a letter I wrote from Angel to my Pre-K & Kindergarten multiage class. I read it to them 11/2 weeks after Angel died (stillborn due to a cord accident-6/5/96) because it was the only way I could handle explaining it to them. I wanted to let them know what happened so I wouldn't have to face them asking me about my baby in the fall. They may still ask me about my baby but at least they will know that she is not here on earth with me. I will have some of them again next year. Her's the letter, feel free to share it, if you wish.

Please write at my E Mail address NanPauline@AOL.COM

To my Mommy's Class,

My Mommy was wondering how to explain this to you so, I figured I'd try to help her out. Mommy expected to be showing me off to you about now, but I was given a different plan. Everything was going along quite well and I was looking forward to meeting my Mommy and Daddy face to face. However, a few days before I was supposed to be born I got tangled up in the cord that is supposed to bring me what I need to stay alive. I tried to break free but I think I only pulled the cord tighter and soon my heart stopped beating. My Mommy had to deliver me knowing I was no longer alive. Please don't let this scare you if you know someone that is going to have a baby, this usually doesn't happen and it was nobody's fault.

My parents named me Angel Pauline because they believe I will be watching over them like an angel and because, if I do say so myself, I was as pretty as an angel too.

I know some of you have already had to deal with the death of someone close to you and some others may not understand what happened (most of the big people don't either) all you need to do is help my Mommy remember me with happiness and keep me in her heart. My Mommy is trying to be brave but, I think she could use a couple of hugs.

Love,

Angel Pauline
