Angel of Comfort

by Kelley Ann Read

My son, Colby Alexander died of hypoplastic left heart syndrome at 4
days old. I wrote this poem a few days after he died.

Angel of Comfort

Her eyes pierced of gold, her wings bold & white
I knew she was in heaven from the love in the light
She knew my heart was burdened and of the emptiness I felt inside
From her eyes fell tears. My baby boy had died.
In her hands were treasures of the everlasting kind
And from her lips she spoke of love & of the creator divine
I looked to her for comfort & in my heart I could see
She was holding a baby angel. His name was Colby Read.
