Our son Gabriel David will live in our hearts...by Shari Tron Date: Tue, 04 May 1999 This was a letter that I sent out after the termination of our son... Since I mentioned Baby II (due 7/99) in all my Christmas cards, I feel compelled to share with you our unfortunate news. Sadly, we had to terminate the 11 week pregnancy of our son Gabriel David. We chose the name Gabriel because of its meaning, "God is my strength" and David is after my uncle whom I was quite fond of. Based on fetal tissue chromosome testing that was done, the doctors discovered a defect in chromosome #18, this was lethal to Gabriel and he would have been unable to sustain life on his own. It was a very difficult decision, but with the support of family, friends, 3 excellent doctors, 2 ultrasound specialists and the technology of chromosome testing, it was the best decision for the well being of Gabriel. The best case scenario was Gabriel would have lived a year, but would have needed to endure numerous surgery's. So from here we move on and ask God to give us strength and watch over Gabriel and care for him as we would. We feel strongly that God has another plan for us, as well as for Gabriel. Gabriel is a special baby, he will always be apart of our lives and in our hearts. Then there's our miracle, we thank our Lord for blessing us with our beautiful Allie Marie, she is definitely a Godsend and the light of our lives. Allie has been extremely instrumental in helping Alan and I through this very difficult time. Allie has always been our little angel, a very sensitive child and seems to understand that there is sadness in our home. Her constant smiles, hugs and kisses make all the pain go away. In closing, I'd like to thank all of you for your friendship, although the miles separate us, nothing can take away the affection we have for each of you. You're truly wonderful friends. Love, In Memory December 22, 1998 Gabriel David only lived for a short time, Gabriel is our second Angel, |
