Jared's Song

Jared's Song

My friends they had a little boy,
he brought them Love, he brought them Joy
A smile on his little face,
would fill that void, that empty space
A Daddy's grin, a Mommy's touch,
had never meant so very much
I'd see a light so very late,
for Mommy, sleep would have to wait
She'd heard a whimper, heard a cry,
and had to wake to find out why
Nothing's wrong his Dad would say
he's hoping it's another day
Go back to sleep, oh little one
when tomorrow comes, we'll have more fun
The morning came, his eyes still tired,
but for his Dad, the day inspired
Mommy woke so tired and drained,
but through the day, her Love remained
Brother woke and wondered why,
his little sibling had to cry
Was he happy or was he sad,
and how come Mommy wasn't mad
I have to go to school he'd say,
but I'll be back and we can play
Dad came home, his work complete,
and rubbed his Mommy's aching feet
There's only so much Moms can do,
then Daddies have to help out too
His little boy he missed so much,
was yearning for his Daddy's touch
Mom would rest and Dad would play,
his little boys, had made his day
It's off to bathe, and then to bed,
so Mom and Dad could rest their head
Tomorrow is another day,
for brother and baby to carve their way
But one dark night once they had played
the Angels took their boy away
It seemed God had another plan,
for Daddy's boy, Mom's little man
We all cried hard and wondered why,
a little child should have to die
Was God so cruel or us so bad,
for taking all the Love we had
We knew that he was happy now,
we'd all get through this thing, somehow
But it doesn't change the way we feel,
because our Love for him was real
We'll always miss his smiling eyes,
his little tears when he would cry
His brother kisses the sky at night,
and holds his little Pooh-Bear tight
We miss you Jared and always will,
for in our hearts, you'll be here still.
