Comments: I lost my little Austin 3 days before Christmas, 1984, and it wasn't until now, 14 years later, that I'm having to write this experience down for a writing class at PSU. His untimely death still affects me after all these years. I guess it's true that you don't ever get over it--just through it the best you can. I never imagined that a mere 2 month old baby could make such an impact on me for the rest of my life, but he has. I will always love and cherish you, Austin, and know that one day, we'll be together again. Love Mom.

Comments: This is the second time that i have visited this site and for some reason it seems to make me feel better. I do wish that i could find a chat room to talk to some one. I miss my son so much. I was recently going through all of our pictures and when i came across our family picture i almost died when i saw the resemblance of my new son to Michael. They could have been twins. I live my life min. to min. because i miss him so much; there are days when i don't know how i got through. Please GOD tell me he is okay, tell me that everything is alright and that some day he will be mine again. I feel like I have lost everything at times, not that I don"t love my other children, but I look at them and wonder why i still have them and not Michael. I wonder if it was some kind of punishment or if it was my fault. I hate SIDS and wish that we could do something to change it.

I am very aware of the heartaches of losing a child. Though my one son was 22 when he died, I understand the loss and the pain it brings to parents and family. Keep up the good work.

Comments: We are the proud parents of Joseph "Joey" Fairbrother . He was our youngest son and we lost him due to SIDS. He was only three months and one day old and not a day goes by that he is not in our hearts and minds. We miss him dearly. It has been 2 years and not a day goes by that our hearts mourn the loss of our bright eyed son. And for him, we find it necessary to know as much as possible about SIDS research and to try to lend our support. Joey was born June 4th, 1996 and this year we received another gift from God. Her name is Lorin, and she was born June 3rd 1998. We hope and pray that we may not go through another tragedy like the one we survived just 2 years ago. And I hope and pray that no one else must go through it as well. Thank you soo much for building this site where we can go. If not for the information that you may provide, but for the support in knowing that maybe another family will know that they are not alone. Thank you once again, and God bless you all! Sincerely, Mr. and Mrs. Gary Fairbrother II

I emailed the page to everyone in my address book and checked again and saw some of their bids ... that's even more wonderful. The past 7 months we've kept our Angel's memory alive in our hearts but have felt helpless until we made a bid on a couple of items. It just made me feel better. Send it to your friends and family also, see what we can do. WE LOVE YOU BABY JOE!!! LOVE MOM AND DAD.

Comments: anyone out there who may be looking or listening...i am coming up to what would be my son's first birthday. and because of this horrendous thing call SIDS i will be spending the day without him. for the last few weeks i have been wondering how i will deal with this day. and i have felt pretty okay with it...till tonight when i walked thru the doors of my house and suddenly something hit me. I am not even sure what it was but all of a sudden my feelings of strength where blown out the door. I have 11 days to go till i get the his birthday...and it seems as though the days building up to it are going to be harder than the actual day. am i nuts or normal...or is there any such catagories going thru this? I have thought from one range to the other about what i would do on his birthday...such as either shut myself off from the world that day...no phone, no answering the door, no nothing or just the opposite-get out there and deal with "stuff"...people, situations, feelings. I know i will not know until that very morning what i will do. has anyone else had this "build up" to dates...and what do you do... I have actually had this weird thing happening...my hair has ben coming out a lot, not in clumps or anything big but very noticable and someone said you must be stressing about something...maybe this is it. it fels weird. anywords of support or advice are very much welcome. i thought i was doing "good" and gonna be able to get thru this. and while i have friends and family who try to help those of you who have gone thru this can help way more. thanks for listening tracey...momy of baby jack

Comments: I logged into the SIDS site after learning of the horrible death of a dear friend. She and her husband lost their first child to SIDS several years ago. As a friend you couldn't help but be interested in this horrible syndrome that happens to infants; she and her family were very much involved with the SIDS organization, including the annual golf tournament held in Houston and very sympathetic to families who had suffered losses like theirs. Visting your site today made me feel a little closer to her - she will be greatly missed by those she touched, her husband and two small sons. We'll miss you M'Lis...

Comments: We lost our first born son Micael Patrick Dupuis on 3-11-97. I knew about SIDS but never thought that it could happen to me. I took all of the CPR classes and had a set of twins before he was born, so i thought i knew what to expect. The moment that I heard my husband scream no I knew that my life had changed forever. I would give anything that I possibly could to change my sons fate but I guess we all know that we can't do that. I have just recently started going to a support group. I think that it is the most wondeful thing in the world for me. I just wish that it was more than once a month. I miss my son more every day that passes without him. We just had another beautiful baby boy who turned 2 months on what would have been my sons 2 year b-day. That was a very hard day for me I have so much anger and feeling of emptiness, I wish I knew how to make it stop. My new son looks so much like Michael; some days it is very comforting and others it is heart wrenching. For all of the other parents out there I wish that we could all see our children playing together because they are. We love and miss each and every one of you, our small angels with big hearts. Michael, you are forever mine. LoL

Comments: I am so grateful for this guestbook. I have made great and helpful contacts. I was re-reading past months and came across an entry from my son's day care provider. It is in Feb. 98. her name is carol and she is without a doubt an incredible person. take a moment to read it. especially if you are a provider. she not only cared for my precious Baby Jack but felt for him like he was her own. I am so lucky to have her and her family in my life then and still now. although i do not see them quite as much as i did before not a day goes by i don't think about them. i feel an extreme pain in my heart, soul, body and mind since my son was taken away from me by this monsterous desease or whatever it is called. but i also know how intensly the lives of my daycare family have been touched. I have a lot of my own pain to deal with and have day to day struggles with that. But i want people to know how wonderful carol and her family have been. and how they are in my prayers and I know my special little angel in heaven watches over all of us. there is a beautiful picture of Baby Jack up in the daycare. Carol made it special with a couple of Jack's baby toys inbedded in the matte. so wonderful she made us both one. Precious Mi Hijo...you live in my heart everyday!!!! Mama and Papa love you.

Comments: We lost Nicholas to SIDS three years ago this Thursday the 24th. It still hard to believe we lost our little boy who had a tough way to go from the start. He was born 6 weeks premature weighed in at 3lbs. 13 oz. He was strong and fought a upper respiratory infection up until a couple of days before his death. If I could just have another ten minutes to hold him and talk to him I THINK it would make it easier. Until we meet again I LOVE and MISS you. We have another child 2 years old and full of herself. For those of you that lost a child to SIDS and used an apnea monitor on a subsequent child you know what I'm saying when I tell you that the first time the alarm goes of you almost crumble. You think not again. But, she's GREAT. God bless all of you and I can't say it gets easier but maybe more accepting.

Comments: In 1984 my grandson, Greggy, died of SIDS. At that time even though I'd been a nurse for 20 years, and had worked on all areas of nursing- including Pediatrics, I was devestated. I knew that the babies of good people died, I knew that death was a part of life, I had served dying patients and their families for years. But Greggy's death brought me to my knees. Kept me praying to God not to make my daughter, Teri, and her husband, Gordon, go crazy, not to let anything happen to my granddaughter, Jessie. I thought I had learned enough through all those years of studying...but on that day, I realized I knew nothing. Then when we were the most desperate, an angel came to help us through. To answer all the questions we had to ask about why it had happened. It helped us so much that Teri and I wanted to share what she'd said, share how our family healed, and offer it to others. That's why we wrote the book "Then An Angel Came.." It took us ten years to get it published but that too was a gift, because each day in those ten years we got a chance to talk about Greggy, to share him with each other. To heal. And we found out...A life is no small thing, no matter how small the life. The Angel Janith's 11 steps to healing can be downloaded for free from our site. Love and Prayers to all of you who have lost your precious children.

Comments: My first attempt to look something up on the Net!! The address was in the Michigan SIDS Alliance newsletter. We lost out firstborn son, Bradley, to SIDS in l976. It still surprises me that reading a page like this brings it all back so clearly. We have 3 subsequest children, all boys, who are so great, but Bradley was here first. Our first subsequent son, Greg, is 20 yrs. old now and so often I wonder if he and Brad would have been close now that they'd both be either on their own or away at college. Andy is 16 and a Jr. in high school, and Gabe (our surprise) is not quite 8 yrs. old. Gabe was born just a few days after Brad's birthday in October, and had Brad's smile as a newborn. It was somehow so comforting, like a message from above. We gave him the same middle name as Bradley, and I'm still not sure if it was the right thing to do.

This web sight is great and very "informative" The hardest part is that we have no answers we dont understand it.. It really tests your faith. We are trying to keep the "faith".. Theres not a minute in the day that goes by that we dont think of her.. Maybe one day we will get to the point where we can charish the 5 months we did have with her, and take comfort that she is in gods "hands".One day mommy and Daddy will be with you Raven we love you dearly.XOXOXO GOD BLESS US ALL!!

If you have a chance, please pick this book up. Now I know I am NOT crazy and I am Not alone. This book includes dozens of parents thoughts and feelings during the roughest time in our lives. If you enjoy this book as much as I do, please pass it on to help another family. God Bless You All. May we all join our little angels in heaven.

Comments: Thank you for having this site available. It's been a while since I've visited. I lost my daughter Megan desiree Hutchinson to SIDS Dec 9, 1997. Time has passed quickly. Sept 8, 1998 would have been her first birthday. I miss her so, but she has made me a better person. It's interesting how an event like this makes you re-evaluate your life and what is important to you. I actually stop to smell the roses now. I also would like any information / help that can be given to start a non-profit organization to help people who don't have the funds to bury their children. Having a new baby is a financial change these days, and having to bury them is a financial challenge. I was fortunate but so many others are not. I see so many little graves without markers, because the family can't afford one. It is heart breaking to me. I want to make a positive contribution for such a difficult time. Although Meg is gone and I'm sad I have to do something positive to heal. Thanks for letting me ramble. Take care all. Brenda B. Hutchinson

Comments: I don't normally write in these, but this subject has touched my heart for a long time. I have never personally known a SIDS baby, but I babysat for the most wonderful family who had lost their first baby, a boy, before I was knew them. Their daughter was on the sleeping monitor and while it made me a nervous wreck (not having experienced a SIDS death) I know it was a great comfort to the parents. Alex is now 6 and although I haven't seen her in a few years, she is precious. Her parents are great people. My heart goes out to anyone experiencing a loss like this.

Comments: I was here one other time a few months ago. But the last few days have been hard since today is the anniversary of our first sons death from SIDS. It was 4 years ago when this mysterious thing entered our lives and caused our lives to be changed forever. Our son Christian Jay C.J. was three months old to the day when he died. I'll never forget those 3 months and have felt so blessed to have know my son. We have since had twins and are once again blessed with the sounds of little ones in the house, but it is on days like this I do wonder what life would be like with a big brother helping out. I will never forget my first born and will cherish till the day I'm with him again the memories I have. God Bless all the other parents who know what I'm talking about and have gone through the death of a child.

I also think it's nice to see the memories of children who have died from this terrible thing. This world is full of irresponsible teenagers who decide after their baby is born they don't want to take care of it, and it's a terrible shame when there are loving and caring parents out there who lose their children.

Comments: My friend, Anne Lapine, gave birth to a beautiful boy, Jeremy David Lapine, on 8Jan98. He died 1 day shy of his 8th week birthday. At 5 weeks old, Jeremy suffered a "SIDS- Type" incident and was recesitated by the paramedics. Jeremy never regained conciousness. However, during his time at the hospital I learned what bravery, commitment, love, and faith are all about. I consider Jeremy a gift to the world, as are all children. His story reached many people and his heart is reaching even more. Like the ripples on the water after a stone is dropped, Jeremy's gift will spread. Even though I would prefer to play with him, I am forever grateful that he is in my heart. My only hope is that I can help my friend and in this I am fortunate that you have this wonderful GuestBook and information page.
